Shawn Mendes took to the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and delivered a powerful bite of his Illuminate single "Mercy" Sunday night.
Mendes performed his radio-reigning single with minimal production, using only a larger-than-life full moon that was suspended above the arena, while he stood centerstage and captivated the audience with his arresting vocal aerobics.
Mendes entered the ceremony with nominations for the socially-charged best cover song for his take on Alessia Cara's "Here," Taco Bell's best fan army award, and male artist of the year alongside Justin Bieber, Drake, Luke Bryan, and The Weeknd.
The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards broadcast live from the Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday (March 5). The ceremony, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, also saw performances by Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Big Sean, Noah Cyrus, show opener Katy Perry, and others.
