Snapchat rolled out a new feature that brings filters beyond faces. Introducing the "New World Lenses," which allows users to add augmented reality elements to any scene that is captured via the rear-facing camera.
Starting today, Snapchat users can use World Lenses to "add captions, color, and even Bitmoji to the world around" them, the company said. The announcement video, above, demonstrates how users can activate the lens, and the creative capabilities of adding various 3D stickers anywhere in the photo or video.
The rollout of World Lenses arrives on the first day of Facebook's developer conference, which is held on April 18 and 19 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. Facebook has been introducing new features inspired by Snapchat into their suite of apps, including Instagram Stories and Facebook Stories.
