Eight-year-old Kai appeared on Tuesday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to profess his love for the comedienne with a handmade Valentine's Day card, and serenaded her with an endearing performance of Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud."

During Kai's impassioned delivery which he emblazoned with interpretive dance moves, Sheeran -- who was the musical guest -- decided to surprise him onstage after watching the performance from his dressing room. The little boy was so into his performance, he had no idea the British singer was sitting behind him the whole time.

Following Sheeran's impromptu appearance, he went back to his dressing room to prepare for his live rendition of "Shape of You," a cut lifted from his forthcoming ÷ ( Divide) album, out March 3. He told On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday morning that his new song, "How Would You Feel," will hit the airwaves this Friday.

"I was like, this is the one time I could release a song and it could be played on the radio when it's five minutes. I think when the album is out, people will just go for the singles. So the song isn't a single, but I want to put it out because I want loads of people to hear it," he said, then revealed how the song was added to the ÷ tracklist: "I said to my girlfriend, 'What's your favorite song on the album?' and she said, 'You forgot this existed and I've got it in my email because I'm the only one you sent it to.'"
